This course provides an overview of fundamental landscape design principles and plant selection considerations relevant to community association properties. Participants will learn how proper planning and design support functional, sustainable, and low-maintenance landscapes. The course will review key design concepts, including the relationship between plant selection and site conditions, and how landscape elements are arranged to achieve both aesthetic and practical goals.
Attendees will gain an understanding of general plant characteristics such as size, shape, color, texture, and growth patterns, and how these factors influence long-term landscape performance. The course will also cover the landscape design process, including site analysis considerations such as sun exposure, soil conditions, drainage, and environmental factors. By the end of the course, participants will be able to recognize basic landscape design principles and better evaluate landscaping plans and recommendations provided by industry professionals.
